Exhibición Home/Land Security
Home/Land Security is a word game. On one hand, it refers to the physical borders of countries, but it also alludes to the security and stability that belonging to a clan, a place, an origin, a community, or a cultural heritage provides us.
This multidisciplinary exhibition addresses the importance of this condition that intertwines the social and communal sphere with our lives on an individual and collective level.
It is a communitarian vision of human existence, where the sense of belonging to a community or group is fundamental for the construction of an authentic identity.
Belonging connects us to the world and allows us to be part of something larger than ourselves. This condition becomes even more significant in a society that is increasingly individualistic and fragmented, where a lack of connection and belonging leads to loneliness and alienation.
Flags and heraldry have been symbols of identity since ancient times. They represent a particular entity associated with unique values, histories, traditions, and symbolism. They provide a sense of connection and belonging to those who identify with them.
Information and communication technologies are transforming the relationship between the human body and territory, erasing physical boundaries and allowing people to operate in distant territories. This transformation has significant implications for politics, culture, and society, changing the way people relate to space and time and affecting our sense of belonging and relationship with the territory.
With information and communication technologies, we are present everywhere, but at the same time, we are not anchored anywhere. As we become more global and less local, it is important to reflect on how this affects our relationship with the territory and our identity.
