OMNIS FLAGOJ
When every territory is connected, none remains.
The title, constructed from a combination of Latin and Esperanto, proposes a linguistic hybrid that alludes to the historical aspiration to create universal systems of communication. In this sense, Esperanto and artificial intelligence share a similar promise: to facilitate understanding among different cultures, languages, and communities. However, like any mediating technology, their destiny depends on the power structures that implement and regulate them. This ambivalence raises an inevitable question: could artificial intelligence become a new Tower of Babel, where the pursuit of universal communication ultimately generates new forms of fragmentation and conflict? Since ancient times, flags have functioned as one of the most powerful symbols of collective identity. More than simple graphic emblems, they condense historical narratives, cultural values, and shared memories that articulate a sense of belonging to a specific community. In the contemporary era, information and communication technologies have begun to profoundly transform the relationship between the body and territory. Global connectivity has blurred traditional physical boundaries, allowing people to interact and act simultaneously across multiple geographic spaces. This condition alters our perception of space, time, and rootedness, reshaping the way we understand belonging. Omnis Flagoj emerges from asking an artificial intelligence system to design a flag capable of generating a sense of collective identity. The result presents a paradox: a symbol of belonging created by a system that, by its very nature, operates beyond any territory. The work thus becomes a reflection on the fate of the territorial body in an era where technological systems allow us to be present everywhere while, at the same time, increasingly less anchored to any specific place.
