Rebeca González Tomelloso
CONTEMPORARY ART
ABOUT THE ARTWORK
For more than twenty years, the work of Rebeca Tomelloso has explored the relationship between humanity and technology, investigating how technical systems transform our perception, our forms of interaction, and our experience of the world.
Her practice emerges from an interdisciplinary research process where technology and materiality converge. Working from an electronic foundation, she integrates traditional techniques such as painting, object art, and installation, creating hybrid spaces where the digital and the tangible enter into dialogue, tension, and mutual questioning.
Through these intersections, her work examines our simultaneously virtual and corporeal condition: how we inhabit screens without ceasing to inhabit bodies, and how technological acceleration reshapes identity, freedom, and voice in the contemporary world.
Within this context, art becomes a space of pause within technological noise—a threshold where the aesthetic experience opens a moment of reflection on the present and on the role we occupy within the systems we ourselves have created.
